Transforming a seemingly ordinary and insignificant action into a performative experience through the expressive language of audio and video. By treating and manipulating images, a simple moment from everyday life evolves into a compelling narrative. This recontextualized action has the power to evoke memories, dreams, and desires.
In this project, I delved into experimenting with sound, colors, varied compositions, and underwater footage. The audio features sounds that are best experienced with headphones or quality speakers, enhancing the immersive quality of the piece. I took on the challenge of sound design for the video, recording and distorting many of the sounds for the first time.
The footage was captured on a Sunday afternoon with friends in Partaccia, Massa (Italy) by Mihaela Vasilache. This marked my initial venture into working with underwater footage, where I extensively played with colors. As a friend aptly described, the visuals evoke a sense of “Mother Nature scrutinizing us as intruders on this planet”.
The video was screened once in 2011 at ZoneVideo Festival, Empoli (Italy)
The video was screened for 2 weeks as part of the contemporary art duo exhibition FLOW, FOEM/Electronic Youth, Spazio HDM, Carrara, Italy (2010).
